Periodontology is the main science that deals with diseases of the tissues surrounding our teeth, that is, the gums and bone surrounding the roots of the teeth. The healthy integrity of the teeth and tissues depends on maintaining oral hygiene. For this, the teeth must be cleaned of microbial plaque, which is the main cause of dental caries and gum disease. In most cases, the treatment of gum disease is simple. The first treatment usually consists of professional cleaning performed by the dentist using special tools and devices to remove plaque. The first step in the treatment is to decontaminate the teeth with the help of a toothbrush, dental floss, and an interface toothbrush. Surgical procedures performed under local anesthesia are called periodontal operations to treat enlarged and receding gums, cavities that have occurred due to alveolar bone melting and bone fusions.
